It was sad to make the final crossing of the Kenai at Cooper Landing.
We ventured on.
The road to Anchorage from the Kenai Peninsula is amazing and the morning light was lovely.
Along the last piece of this road is a special place that we have driven by before but today decided to make it a special stop. The position of the railroad construction created this piece of wetland called the Potter Marsh.
Lesser Yellowlegs , Herring and Mew Gulls and Short-billed Dowitchers were present along with Mallards and Rusty Blackbirds.
As we took some pictures we realized that there were also some Humpy (pink) Salmon migrating through the marsh. A bear had been there yesterday enjoying the feast.
After a few errands in Anchorage, we continued on and saw the Matanuska Glacier, some of the high peaks of the mountains of the Wrangell-st. Elias range, and the amazing colors of another mountain along the way.
BUT, our major discussion throughout the day was about our friends at the Klondike and how much we were missing them. We didn't get a chance to say goodbye to our co-hosts, John and Joann but wish them a good rest of the season.
Other friends had a wonderful BBQ meal for us last night and we so enjoyed speeding our last evening with them, Bob and Judy along with Al and Rusty.
And our special friend, Brody aka Captain Dody.
I want to say a special thank you to the owner of the Park, Al , who patiently worked with me as I learned the computer system used in the campground , as well as the casting method used for the salmon fishing. He arranged a chance for me to go halibut fishing and gave us a very special book made by his mother. He made sure our Alaska experience was a dream come true! And it was,
We are grateful for his friendship.
