Daicey Duo
The Daicey Duo Together, Linda and Latona volunteered at Baxter State Park and eventually were hired to staff Daicey Pond Campground where they worked for 5 years from 1987-1991. During those years, they interviewed all the successful thru-hikers as they officially entered BSP. They had been dreaming about hiking the Appalachian Trail and in 1990 decided to get a loan and give it a try the next year. They adopted the trail name, Daicey Duo and thru-hiked from March 12 to September 28 using the motto “Realizing the Dream, GA To ME, 1991.” Following the hike, they realized they wanted to continue to hike and travel with the simplicity of a backpack and each other. This evolved into another dream, a trip around the world. They lived in a motel room, lived on one salary and saved another and eventually, on November 1, 1995 departed from Bangor International Airport and began an incredible journey. The adventure is chronicled in a book titled, NO WORRIES MATE-SHE’LL BE RIGHT
